Taufeek ki Biryani

By on March 24, 2014

When one hears the word ‘Taufeek ki biryani’, one is inevidently reminded of a crowded place, a big utensil of biryani, lots of pickles, fresh yogurt and most of all, people standing around the famous chef himself..taufeek and asking him to serve them more biryani. In that complete state of chaos, he manages to sell kilo’s of biryani in a day. The lanes and by-lanes of Old Delhi have a sense of familiar smell, that of Taufeek’s biryani. This small restaurant is situated in Kuyen wali…towards Azam Khan’s haveli. Even though it is a very small restaurant, it manages to attract hundreds of customers everyday. One of the speciality of this restaurant is that Taufeek himself grinds all the spices himself…giving it a special blend and distinct recipe, a secret he doesn’t reveal. Apart from spices, the other speciality is that he serves biryani with pickles, a rare combination in Old Delhi. This restaurant is open from 11 am to 11 pm.
